Description
This 1-hour course will provide an overview of Ottobock’s vacuum technology looking into how vacuum suspension works, the importance of the casting technique, appropriate liner materials and a look at the different pumps Ottobock has to offer. IN addition, a technical overview of the different pump options will help clinicians make an informed decision on which pump is best for their patient.

Presenter
Byron Backus, CP/L
Byron Backus is a certified prosthetist with the American Board for Certification (ABC) who received his diploma as a prosthetic practitioner from Northeast Metro Technical College (now Century College) in 1990, after receiving a Bachelor of Arts in Biology and Chemistry in 1982. Byron worked at Shriners Hospital for Children from 1990 – 2003, until he joined Ottobock in 2003. His responsibilities at Ottobock include creating and teaching educational courses for practitioners as well as coordinating prosthetic Cooperative Care fittings, which involves working with customers and their patients to help achieve great outcomes for difficult or unusual fitting problems.

- Approved for 1.25 (s) ABC CEUs
- ABC will grant Category I CEUs to Certified Prosthetists, Prosthetic Assistants, and Prosthetic Technicians. Category II CEUs will be granted to those not identified.
